I have worked for a non for profit organization for the past 20 years. I was called on Monday September 19 during the middle of my last home visit ( I am case worker for children/adolescent that have a intellectual and/or development disability) and was told by the agency lawyer (he was hired recently to assist our board in revising policy and procedure manual) that after 20 years of service the agency no longer needed my services. I was devastated and of course could not quit crying and asking him why? The lawyer stated he did not know the reason and stated he did not have to give me a reason. I have a lot of proof that my new Executive Director (formerly our families best friends until her and her husband divorced and my husband and myself remained to be friends with her ex-husband) has treated me different than other employees. I have a lot of documentation showing this on a daily basis (sign-in and out sheet, monthly timesheets, travel and mileage report, ). The best example is a co-worker called me and left me a message on my phone cursing me out (I still have this voicemail message ) using Gods name in vain, and threatening me saying she is going to go toe to toe with me. This happened in February and I filed a grievance to the Executive Director against that employee, then I filed a grievance to The Board President regarding the Executive Director. I still to this day have not received a response from Executive Director regarding the employee that cursed and threatened me. I did receive a response from the Board President it stated Your grievance has precipitated a full review of all policies and procedures for the Marshall-Jackson 310 Agency. The Executive Director did nothing to protect me from the hostile environment, threats, so I asked to be transferred to the Marshall County office instead of the Jackson County office ( which was now a 45 minute commute one way instead of the 10 minute commute one way that I had drive to for 18 years), now to make a very long store short. The lady that cursed me out in February took a position that become vacant within the agency and yes she got that position and moved into the Marshall County office and yes you guessed it she took the office right next door to my office even though there were vacant offices in that building much bigger and nicer but yes she chose the one right beside me. I thought this is another example of discrimination, targeting and workplace bullying.
