I am co-owner of an LLC in Washington State.I wa laid, is the non-compete enforceable?
I own 5 percent between 5 owners. 2 of the owners 51 shares remain in escrow until we buy them out. I was notified on October 12th buy the 3rd largest share holder that I was being laid off effective that day. There was no vote by any of the members. I signed a non-compete that last 3 years and covers King County. I have not been given any paperwork at all or severance package. Just a final paycheck. I need to know what my rights are as I remain an owner and am currently collecting unemployment benefits. I would have had a new job in the same field but due to my non-compete they would not employ me. Can you offer any assistance or legal advise? Thank you for your time and consideration.
