How can I get a Do Not Hire tag on my employment record removed?

I want KBR to remove the "Do Not Hire" tag on my personnel records.

I learned yesterday from a recruiter for Halliburton that my employment record was tagged as DNR or Do Not Rehire. I had been told that after serving two years, being promoted three times, that I was released due to "Loss of Confidence" by my employer, Kellogg, Brown and Root, in July 2007. I was caught completely unaware of my firing, and had just returned from a brief vacation, only to be turned around and sent home from Iraq. I was told in my debriefing by the HR Representative during my interview, that I was eligible for rehire, when I asked. I had no intention of filing a lawsuit, and did not until I was denied being hired after four interviews with parent company Halliburton in a totally different division (Oil and Gas).

My concern is that I was never told of this catagorization in my employment record for three years. I have since worked in Iraq for three different companies, and have done nothing wrong. I still do not know the details behind my firing other than my Project Manager had lost confidence in me. Decisions I made as Deputy Project Manager for Operations were always made with the mission priority first. Never did I do anything illegal or immoral, and this catch all 'loss of confidence' was typically a catch all when a leader fell out of grace with a boss in Iraq.

Please advise how to proceed. I am more hurt than angry, as I did a good job and could easily substantiate my record of performance up to that point. Iraq was a dangerous and difficult place to work. I did the best I could out of a spirit of loyalty to my country and to KBR. My son served in Iraq and Afghanistan, which was my personal motivation to take on these assignments.

Can you help guide me? Thank you.
