Holiday Pay During Two week notice?

So I put my two week notice in with one additional day so I would get my Holiday Pay. My company came back and said they are terminating me the day before the holiday. Is this legal? (I am willing to pay $20 to to save my time before contacting a lawyer)

My Email to them

Jim *** / ***
Dear Jim ***

This letter is to formally announce my resignation from ***. My last day in the office will be Tuesday July 5, 2011.

It has been a pleasure to work for *** Engineering. Please let me know how I can help to make a smooth transition during my remaining time here. Also Please let me know if you would like me to inform my *** Manager (*** ***) here in Kernersville because I would like this to be as smooth of a transition as possible.

Regards,
Craig

Email from my Manager

Craig,
Management has informed me that your last day will need to be revised to Friday July 1, 2011. That will fulfill your two week notice requirement and there will be little need for you to return to work since we will not be working Monday. This will also support your new employer’s wishes for you to start as soon as possible as you noted earlier.

It is probably legal for them to do this. If you had an actual contract that gave you the right to leave in this manner then you might be able to ask them to honor the contract, but you aren't suffering enough harm to make this into a legal dispute. I would recommend that you just accept it and move on. Generally speaking, it's usually smart not to burn bridges.
