Have a salary position with a non-profit organization and was hired in June of this year. This past week all Program Directors were told that the position is being eliminated, and we all were offered a position $10,000 lower then what we are making and/or hired for. They informed us in a letter after the meeting as well, however because they were holding off informing us 35 days before the new laws took effect and was hiring for this position just 4 months ago, would we have a case for this demotion.
reason that was mentioned in the meeting when asked why did they waited to inform us. It was stated that they were trying to push the law off, and trying to get other funding to supplement the new salaries.
What concerns me the most is that even though they knew that it was a blind shot 4 mos ago to get the new law changed, they continued to hire for a position that was a possibility to be eliminated.
