Demoted with no legitimate reason

I was recently demoted from a manager to a regular employee. In 5 years of working there, I have NO corrective actions against me. Since I was demoted, they have also not been scheduling me to work. It is a part time job position due to school and my other job. Can they demote me for no legitimate reason?

Sad but true

An employer can demote you for any reason or even no reason, unless you can prove it demoted you for an illegal reason, such as race, sex, religion, etc.
