Can my employer record my Cell phone conversation?

In short, I was issued a cell phone for use by the company. It was clearly understood over the course of several years and many conversations that this cellphone was primarily for business use, but that incidental personal use was acceptable.

I received a phone call from a family member who is also an employee. As it turns out the owner was having all calls recorded, and between the fact we were "bitching" about another manager, and a misunderstanding, the owner was enraged.

Is it legal for the owner to be recording all phone calls without having informed me? and then to use that as evidence to terminate me?
