Can my employer make a retroactive reduction in commission?

I have a position in which I make a base salary and commission from sales. I was informed today (April 23rd) that they would be reducing the commission for sales made, retroactively to April 1st. I live and work in Kentucky. The reduced commission can only be applied from today's date forward, correct? Meaning they cannot reduce my commission from any sales made prior to April 23rd.
