Can an employer fire you due to a misdiagnosis on fmla

You
I was terminated for a Pionidal Cyst but when I went to my consultation with surgeon it was found I didn’t have one. My primary Physician related it back to my IBS with the symptoms I had and determined it was a flare up from that diagnosis. I have FMLA already in place for IBS intermittent leave. I was terminated due to the Pionidal Cyst being a new diagnosis and not having the hours for that diagnosis, but it was a misdiagnosis.
