Can I resign during the probationary period when I signed a non-compete agreement?

I signed a non-compete employment contract, but there is a 90-day probationary period. I am about 60 days in and looking to take extended time off for a medical issue. I do not have access to benefits yet, including short term disability. Am I able to resign during this probationary period without penalty, or will the company have to terminate me?
