Can I do anything if my employer does not compensate me for wages?

Time and time again during the three years i have worked for this company the same issue keeps comming up. My employer fails to pay me on time and never can give reasoning for the event. Most recent, I, along with the rest of the hourly employees, were due to receive a check on 1/08/10 and as of 1/12/09 we still have not received them. Try calling and the only answer they have is we have no idea why checks didn't go out and don't know when they will. We'll call you back when we know something. That was 1/8 and now they are ignoring the phone calls. I was expecting a direct deposit on 1/08/09 and scheadule bills to be withdrawn from my account and am receiving nsf after nsf fee due to their negletance. I can understand once or twice but the continueing problem along with stories from other employees not being compenstated after months of performing such work worries me.
