Can I be fired while on Long Term Disability

I was a Manger of Audit for a fortune 34 publicly traded company here in Atlanta Georgia. I was fired after a year of being on Long Term Disability after being completely disabled and incapacitated (Due to bleeding on my Brain) and denied an extended leave for an additional one year even though my Neurologist successfully submitted the necessary medical documentation which supported and required me being off for the additional one year to complete treatment. The Leave of Absence Coordinator stated that the company has approved other employees request for extended leave and that I was denied and I was terminated.
