Are they subcontractors or employees?
I am a contractor hired to find individuals to unload shipping containers in various warehouses. Pay is based on number of containers emptied, and there is no set work hours although the warehouse operates from the morning into the afternoon. Shipping containers are not always available to empty so work can be spotty. My question is, are these individuals my employees or are they subcontractors? Asking so I know the correct way to compensate.
