who do we contact are we protected

Employees of a 501c corporation are being harassed in the work place by incompetent and perhaps dishonest management. The organization has at least one contract with the city of Miami and does business with the Miami Public Schools.

Will these employees be protected and where do they file their complaints. Several employees have already filed a complaint with the EEOC.

As you mentioned illegal conduct, employees who object may also have protection under Florida's Whistleblower Statute, and possibly under several federal laws depending upon the circumstances. I would recommend that the affected employees consult an attorney to discuss their rights based on the specific circumstances of this case.

It will depend on the nature of the harassment. If it is proteced harassment, generally based on gender, race, age, national origin, age or some other protected characteristic, then yes the EEOC is the proper place. These claims could also be looked into by the Florida Commssion on Human Relations. Wage issues could be filed with the Department of Labor.

There is also a Miami/Dade Human Rights Division which expands protections. Website is: http://www.miamidade.gov/ofep/human_rights_about.asp

Without more facts, this is the best guidance I can provide.
