is a company bound by any law to devulge that an employee is elligible for severance when they are outsourcing their job without asking if there isi one?

three of us were terminated, offered another job with the outsource company without devulging the option of a severance package if we did not take the job. We were led to believe we had the options to take the oursource job, leave with nothing or see HR for any other openings in the organization that we might qualify for and apply for. No mention of any severance afte 27 years of service, even though it was available.
