in a union shop is it legal to fire someone for a policy that was put in place with out notifying the employees

is it legal for a company to terminate someone for a policy that was put in place without notifying the employees in a Union shop, I signed a policy 03/27/17 the new policy was put in place in April of 2017 and nobody from before i was hired or the Union was made aware of a drastic company policy.
