can you be fired for asking for safe working conditions and your pay stub

i work in Ky. I am the production lead for our company. I was approached my the employees on the floor about unsafe work conditions and not receiving any record at all for 3 months or more for our paychecks. I asked our supervisors and human resources to please take care of this many times. But nothing was done. I asked my supervisor if I could use the open door policy that the owner had to try and resolve these matters. the next day I was fired with no reason giving. Do I have a case. ty

I believe that your employer may have several issues which are difficult for it to answer. I do not know whether or not Ky has prohibitions on this type of conduct or what cause(s) of action you would have under state law. As you were requesting pay stubs and recoreds to reflect the hours worked and paid, this may fall under the FLSA, and I would recommend that you immediately contact the nearest office of the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor. You should also see if you can find a Kentucky group of Employment lawyers and talk to one of them.
