What are my rights in Maryland if my paycheck bounces?

I have worked with my current employer for a little over a year now, to my dismay. I have had two paychecks bounce already and have had my bank charge me fees for this. I have had to go back to my employer and ask for a refund of the fees. My employer has never said a word as to why this has happened and I doubt ever will.
As a result, I have had to get overdraft protection on my account to cover my bills in the event it should ever happen again, which I absolutely hate! I have never run across this problem in all my years of employment.
I just received my paycheck yesterday and went to my bank to first cash it (count the cash) and then deposit the cash. One of my co-workers than told me that my boss told her not to go to the bank that has the corporate account to cash her check because the money wasn't there.
What is my legal recourse if any of my personal checks should be affected because my paycheck wasn't good? Do I have legal recourse to demand that my employer be responsible for any fees associated with the mishap, along with any damages to my credit as a direct result? Any help you can offer, besides suggesting I look for a new job (I am in the process of doing just that), would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
