Unpaid Commissions

I assume there is not much I can do here, but I work for a company headquartered in Atlanta with an office in VA and live in MD.

I was recently contacted about a job from a former boss making more money... I have commissions that will be earned but I've been told from several former employees that the policy at my company is you have to be 1. employed there when commissions are paid (which is the end of the next month for closed deals in the previous month i.e. deals closed in June I would have to be employed on July 29th) and 2. that vacation is not paid out once you leave.

I have the option of resigning August 1st and taking my vacation in July meaning I will have been employed after deals for July closed.

Any clarification here would be helpful here. My commissions for June will be $6,000 and my commissions for July will be almost $18,000.

Thank you.
