Unlawful practices or ??

I have currently been employed at the same establishment for nearly 8 years. About three years ago new management took over and they have found every way to make my time at work miserable. It clear states in the employee handbook that they will do evaluations twice a year. However I have only received one evaluation while my coworkers have received all of theirs. My boss claims that she never has time to evaluate me because we don't work on the same days. Recently I have had two meetings. The first meeting came about because a coworker and I got into a confrontation at work. The coworker got in my business and cussed me out. I felt threatened. My boss basically took the other coworkers side and told me I was more or less ridiculous. This particular coworker, my boss, and my other coworkers frequently associate outside of work together. Therefore I felt like she was showing favoritism/bias. My boss then told me that I should consider finding another job, stating that the current job was hurting my chances of getting into medical school. She said she would wait a month and give me my evaluation. Well a month came and went. Now almost 7 months later I get called into another meeting. This time my boss is upset because I called the HR department. I thought she had asked me to call them to inquire about my hours but she stated that she hadn't. ( There is nothing in the handbook that says we cannot call HR). The HR rep bypassed calling me and called my boss instead. This time she told me that she was going to have to let me go but she wanted to give me two weeks to think about quitting on my own. She said she recommended that I quit rather than them letting me go because again it would look bad for my future career/getting in to Med school. I asked her on what grounds. All she could say was that I had fallen short and that other employees were in agreement. ( I asked the employees that she mentioned and both denied being asked for their opinion in the matter). She also told me that calling HR really made her mad and that she felt I couldn't be trusted. I feel like there are alot of things wrong with this picture. Is anything unlawful going on here?

I would also like to add that they have slowly been cutting my hours back and not giving me anymore responsibility. I asked why and they said that because I was a student and intending to not make that job a career I was a "flight risk". Several of my other coworkers are students as well and planning to move on as well however they have been given responsibilities and have not had their hours cut.
