Two pay cuts within a year

I was making $20/hr and took a $2 pay cut about 8mos ago and just last friday (7-9-2010) i and other employees were confronted with $4/hr or more in pay cuts. Most accepted right away, but i didn't and was given until Monday (7-12-2010) to either accept the pay cut or get laid off. Both pay cuts have been confrontational since neither we were given noticed about what the company was planning to do and the pay cuts are taking effect immediately. Is this fair? Is this legal? How are we to stop another pay cut? When will the abuse end? LoL.... and they tried to blame the pay cuts on Obama of all things! Obama has nothing to do with our company's budget.
