There were 4 promotions on my team. I had been doing the work and received an exceeds expectations on my last review. I thought I would get the promotion based on merit but was told I had to apply. When I went to the interview, the first thing the Sr. Man

The only additional thing I have is my boss also said I didn't have certain experience, yet I told him I did and told him what I did in my current position working for him. He said, "you should have said that during the interview". That's when I told him I was told not to talk about my current job as you already know it. He should have known it as we discuss it during 1x1s and it is in my self-assessment. He always told me how important the self-assessment is during annual reviews as internal hiring managers look at them before internal interviews.
