Terminated prior to resignation date - Am I liable to repay relocation bonus?

Terminated prior to resignation date - bonus and PTO pay-out withheld to offset repayment of relocation expenses per employment contract. Per contract, I was liable to repay expenses in the event I resigned in a given period. Does the early termination change my resignation to an involuntary termination, thus nullifying the need to repay the relocation expense? Is it legal for the company to withhold PTO and bonus pay-out to offset the repayment?
