Suspect of getting laid off while on Maternity leave

I'm 34 weeks pregnant. I was put on bed rest by my doctor last week, 12/3. I missed work starting 12/4. My company/department is in the middle of laying off people by March. I found out they lay off a lot of my co-workers this week, 12/9. I also heard from my previous boss that I'm one of them. Also, they sent me a severance package through mail. Can my company lay me off while I'm on maternity leave? What are my rights?

Laid off when Pregnant

Yes, an employer can lay off a pregnant employee, so long as the employee is not selected for layoff because she is pregnant. If the employer has legitimate non discriminatory reasons for including you within the group selected for layoff, and your pregancy was not a factor, then the employer is within its rights to include you.
