Spouse wasnt paid for 10 hours, complained, then hours cut.

Went to work on a saturday morning as scheduled for the early morning freight shift, and her store manager did NOT open the register for her to clock in, saying that he would do it after the store opened and adjust it to the correct time that she arrived and what not. (hope that makes sense. Well he never did it, and when she said something, he said he would take care of it. Her check came back with that whole 10 hour day missing, along with 3 other hours from the previous day. SHe complained to the district manager about it, with the assurance that it would be confidential, and that she wouldnt get in trouble for saying something.
Well, my wife went into work the next day, and the district manager was there talking to the store manager and outright telling him that my wife had been the one to blow the whistle, and after that it just went downhill. THe store manager dropped her hours from almost 40 a week to 14. There was no investigation into the claim, and she got a check from the company for 2 and a half hours instead of the 13 total she was missing.

After receiving the check, she got 4 write ups from the store manager for things 4 to 6 weeks in the past while she was in training, and told by the district managetr she talked to in the first place that she was a "troublemaker" and was going to be terminated at the end of the week.

SOrry for being so long winded, but is this retaliation in any sort of legal sense?
