Severance Pay

My employer informed me that I was being laid off and they would provide me with 6 weeks of severance pay if I sign the separation agreement. I reviewed the agreement and asked HR to make a few changes with regards to the language. I was informed that they would talk with the legal team and get back to me. This was 3 weeks ago and they are not responding to calls or emails. I am in Massachusetts and I'm curious if I have any rights or leverage to get my former employer to pay me the severance.
