Relocation Payback

Trying to determine if I am obligated to pay back my relocation expenses.

I started July 26, 2010. I have been paid a lump sum, expenses, and house closing costs through June 15, 2011. I am planning on quitting on Aug. 30 for another job if I know that I am not obligated to the relocation expenses.

Here are the two parts of the relocation policy that mention any time frames.

Under the Purpose:
The relocation must occur within 12 months from the effective date of transfer. Transfer is described as the first day of employment for newly hired employees.

Under relocation repayment agreement:
I understand/agree that the relocation benefits that have been/or are extended to me by******* to me are conditional upon my continued employment with ****** for a minimum of 12 months from the effective date of my relocation.

Is effective date of relocation the same as effective date of transfer??
