Problem getting employed after being fired

I was the victim of a false claim of sexual harassment case in October 2015 and our legal counsel proved that it was erroneous and subsequently asked the employee to leave. I was kept on as the General Mabager but they decided to pay her off instead of fight the case because it was cheaper. I was released from my job after turning the company around because they sold the company and new owners brought in someone who had no experience and no tenure with the product. They said and gave no reason but I believe it had to do with the complaint that was filed against me a year earlier. What can I do? I've tried to get work and I'm told my resume is incredible and then I never get a call back. I'm concerned that things are being spoken about me and that this is being discovered. What can I do?
