No Compete...if you were fired

I am curious if you sign a no compete if you were to be fired if the no compete is still legally binding. Also if they are based in another state and just operate a remote office here in chicago if it would matter?......

No Compete...if you were fired

All of this depends on what the no-compete agreement states. Generally, they must be very narrowly tailored and more often than not, they are not valid for that reason alone. In addition, where there is some question, the burden is going to be on the company to pursue a case to defend it. You really need to review the agreement with us or one of the other fine lawyers listed on this site.
