I worked as a salesperson at a Nordstrom location in Los Angeles and was in contact with my manager during the period of furloughment during the pandemic. We were led to believe we would be asked to come back to the store to work our departments, but in August we were called and asked to either resign or accept lower paying seasonal employment in another online order fulfillment department. I felt as if we were being coerced into resigning so that we would be left ineligible for unemployment insurance. I was in a situation where I had to find new housing in Los Angeles, and with the uncertainty of a low paying seasonal job, I refused the work and moved out of state to seek the help of family. I certified for benefits honestly in august when this occurred but I am now having to reapply for a new claim. Will I be denied a new claim or even worse will I be asked to repay benefits? Thank you for your help! No one at CA EDD can answer my questions.
