My contract has a 90 day resignation notice required. Can I provide only 30 days notice?

A year ago I signed an employment agreement with my current employer and it contains a 90 day notice requirement. I have a new opportunity and I want to provide 30 days notice. Can my current employer require me to reimburse them for the additional 60 days?
