My company took away our accrued PTO without any warning. Is this legal? I had been saving it up for a vacation with my kids this summer and now it is suddenly gone.

I work for a delivery company. I have been there 19 months. I wasn't allowed to use vacation time during the first 12 months as I was "accruing it". I had banked over 100 hours of PTO and was saving it for my once a year that I have my kids for my divorce agreement for 10 days. Suddenly last week the company announced they are changing the way you accrue PTO and took away all previously accrued PTO. Is this legal?

I don’t believe that is legal under the Illinois wage payment and collection act. Once PTO is earned and accrued, it must be paid. If you would like to discuss your claim please call our office for a free consultation, 312-763-6880.
