Job Expectations Change

My employer started hiring for my position approximately one month before he told me that I was being demoted because the expectations of the job had changed since a different person hired me 4 months earlier and he had been on the job only 2 months. I am having to take a substantial cut in pay. Do I have any options?

misrepresentation of job duties

in california, if you can prove the company deliberately misrepresented the terms of your employment, you can collect enhanced damages. however, it sounds like this employer just changed its mind.
you should talk to an attorney experienced in employment law. if you are in southern california, please call for a consultation.
