I’m currently on paid approved Short Term Disability (since May 3rd 2018). I’ve had to have emergency surgery and will have more very soon. My Director called me a couple of weeks ago to send me documents that I had to read through stating my company

I’m currently on paid approved Short Term Disability (since May 3rd 2018). I’ve had to have emergency surgery and will have more very soon. My Director called me a couple of weeks ago to send me documents that I had to read through stating my company is offering me a Management Voluntary Offer to waive my STD rights and allow them to take me off payroll effective August 31st 2018. My Director did not include me in a “required phone call” to explain this offer but she did state that the company as a whole is going through changes and will be surplusing employees. My concern is - can I be surplused/let go while on an approved Short Term Disability in North Carolina?
