Is this retaliation or something else?

After returning from a serious illness, my boss (company owner), placed me on a different shift, she said for a week, my hours were cut from 25 to 16 1/2 per week, and I remained on this shift for over 2 months before resigning. She had made comments to me about fat people being lazy and unable to do the job, and had asked me if a potential applicant was black or white. She tried to retract the race issue by saying it didn't matter but during my whole time of employment, she and all coworkers were black, with me being the only white. I was also made to reapply for my position, which eliminated my upcoming paid vacation. She had also humiliated me in front of employees by snatching a mop bucket, and slinging wet mop, resulting in us having words in front of them. When she made her periodic appearances, she always seemed to knit pick at petty trivial things that she said I did (which were usually untrue to begin with). In other words, I believe she was doing/saying things to force me to quit. Does any of this sound illegal, or was I just employed by an evil person?
