Is this a case of Employer Retaliation?

My fiancé was fired from his job of 14 years. His boss accused him of changing his punch in times, however he does/did not have any access to the system in which this can be done. He was never given any warnings or asked about the changes. This also comes after he asked for a raise (it had been 5 years since his last). His boss was very reluctant of giving him a raise, but when he brought up all the things he is able to do she really couldn't argue, and gave him his raise. The time changes have supposedly been happening since then. But again, he can't possibly change his own time. He feels she made up these accusations out of retaliation. Does he have a case?
