Is it illegal from employer to call u for a meeting and not get paid for it and then fired u

I was having issue my my manger so texted one of the higher person and told me i needed to have a meeting with him i didnt get a text back i was my boss about some stuff about lack of commucation with her and it was getting old i received a message from a hr person and it said she needed u have a meeting with me at 330 monday i told her i couldnt her could she do it today she said she couldnt her respond was i cant help that i called her and asked her do u want to have a meeting and she said yes monday at 330 and i told her that i couldnt because i had an appointment at 340 for my daughter so i aske her why did she want to talk to me she said to revolve some issue and i said ok bc i need to talk to u about stuff she asked me what time my shift starts and i said 7-330 she asked me if i could come in at 230 and i said yes so i took my lunch time as my drive time bc i was told i dont get drive time. where i was in ky to evansville. Thats where the main building was and clock out after i took my lunch so i wasnt on work time and had the meeting without getting paid and talked about issues and then they fired me
