If I am in Independent Contractor in Commercial Real Estate, but affiliated via contract with a Real Estate Firm with a managing broker and I leave the company (not doing anything competitive) can the Firm that I worked with as an IC not pay me on closed commissions? I have a good deal of future commissions that are booked and invoiced but are paid half at tenant move in which is as far as November. Can they withhold and not pay me for closed invoiced deals? In Colorado. I am debating just leaving the firm but they I have seen shady behavior in the firm in not paying other brokers (ICs) that left. Want to know my legal right. thanks!
