I work in vermont. Is it illegal for my employer to record my conversations without my knowledge?

I know all of our phone calls at work are recorded, that is part of an outgoing message on the business phone. However, is it illegal for someone to record conversations not related to the work phone. Such as me and another employee talking.
I downloaded an app last night on my phone to detect bugs and naturally the office phones showed they were bugged but that we knew. However, in between 2 filing cabinets where there is nothing electrical near it went bazerk like the phones did. Also, by the lunch room door it did the same thing.
