Recently laid off, employer is asking for 5k bonus back
I recently got laid off after 10 months of employment. When I accepted this position I was paid a 5k signing bonus. It stated that if I leave "voluntarily" or "terminated for cause" within a year then I owe the bonus back. Now the employer has sent me a promissory letter asking for repayment of the bonus. Do I owe the employer?
