I was fired for attendance in which I explained my tardiness was due to I take care of my mother who lives in canada 4 days a week right after work. Sometimes i will get sent into customs, other times a line up at customs in which I explained this to my boss...he said no worries...so we had an understanding because she's not going to be around much longer. So on this past Wednesday I worked 12 hours and had to be at the shop for 5 o'clock am sharp at 5:05 am the work truck is leaving...i was not ready until 5:15 am do to my mistake not saving my clock setting. But now to the point...wednesday I called the boss and explained to him one of my coworkers was aggressive toward me and yelling at me...but the boss still scheduled me to go to Traverse City for 2 days of installs when things could get bad and someone could get hurt...I feel after explaining this to the boss he should of taking me off the schedule for Thursday the day he fired me until he Sat us both down and talked Monday morning. Instead he text me saying I'm no longer on the schedule terminated! I don't have anything in writing and he never mentioned to me being tardy was an issue. The boss has other installers that could of taking my place but instead he was willing to put me in harm's way rather then schedule me off when I was ready for work but left me without even waiting for me or calling, the job was scheduled for 3 installers due to the size of granite to be installed...but left with 2 installers instead...and let me remind you I was never asked if I wanted to go i don't like to sit in a cramped truck for 4hrs. My work schedule starts at 7:30am 5am is very tough on me because I take care of mom as well...the boss knows this and we always left to go to Traverse City at 6am. But it was the coworker who was being aggressive and yelling at me for 12hrs told the boss he wanted to leave at 5am and the boss never ask if I was ok with that.
