I was an at will employee at a large corporation. There was a reduction on work force and we were told there would be no severance package. We had to re apply and re interview for the same job. This job went from 6 positions to 3 positions, in addition there was a change to 5 eight hour days instead of 3 twelve hour days. Some of us left and found other jobs, some re applied and were offered positions, two others choose not to apply but stay until a termination date was provided. Theses last two people were offered severance packages( others were also given severance packages as well but they applied but did not get the positions so I understand that.) My questions is, is it fair to offer those two employees that just decided to stay until the very end severance packages when the rest of us who choose to find other jobs were not?
