I wanted to leave my company on great terms, so I submitted over a month and a half advance notice. (To help prep for a new employee, finish projects scheduled etc, help train if needed etc.) And I was informed I will be reduced to a part time employee. Is this legal?

Unless you had some contractual rights, yes. In fact most companies will terminate your employment upon providing notice depending on the position you hold.
