I just found out that I am "ineligible for rehire" after an industrial leave. What are my options?

Hi. I was employed with a national Health Care Organization for over 13 years, before sustaining an industrial injury. My leave ran out before I was able to return to work, thus my employment with the company was "separated" (?). It's five years later, I have had two jobs since then, have been trying to get rehired with my former employer, been denied multiple times because I was "not qualified" for the positions. Today, however, I received an email stating that I am ineligible for rehire, and if I feel that my status should be reconsidered, to submit in writing to HR.

Hello.
Interesting, you likely had a valid disability discrimination and wrongful termination case at the time of your separation. Today, however, there is not much you can do to force the employer to re-hire except request that they change your status. It would be completely up to them whether to hire you again or not and they cannot be legally compelled to do so.

Thanks,
