Falsely accused drinking at work but did smell from night before.

Came to work still buzzed from the day before. Did my inventory counts spoke to both my bosses and the day went on until about 3 hours later when it was almost opening time. They both came back randomly not usual for this day. 1 of them asked me if I was drinking or on something I said no and was sent home. Next day I was fired no actual reason given to me. Had a new employer call my reference there and they said I was drinking on the job which will also deny me unemployment. Can they say that if they dont have proof and it didnt affect my performance?
