Do I have to fulfill the 90-day resignation agreement?

The company I work for lost their agreement with the hospital I work for and I will be out of a job at the end of the year (I am a nurse practitioner). I have found another job and have turned in my notice, but my new job wants me right away. I offered a 30 day notice but my current employer refused and is holding me to the 90 day notice in the contract. I know that I have a contract, but given the circumstances, is there not a loophole? I have a great opportunity in front of me and if I can't commit I will probably lose this job offer.
