Do I have any legal action against an employer for call and stating a company could not hire me.

I work for a skilled nursing facility. I applied with a company that is contracted with my building for services. Nothing in the company handbook against this. It was for an opportunity they can not provide and would have greatly furthered my nursing career. My direct supervisor however called them and told them they could not recruit from our building. Now of course the other company stopped my process immediately and even though her boss called them back and retracted that statement and even supposedly gave me a good reference the other company was no longer willing to go forward. Do I have any recourse for this action?
