Descrimination

I relocated to Boston Ma from Birmingham Al with a company I have been employed with for four years. I was interviewed by phone and offered a position. However,
since I arrived in Boston things between me and my new manager and a site supervisor have gradually gotten worst. I was still being paid at my old salary and had to complain several times.
I have not be allowed to take the mandatory 40 hour training, even though all other team members have, nor have I completed or received my yearly development plan, although I have
asked repeatedly. In addition, I was only suppose to be in Boston for one year before being moved to a better position. I am being told to "hang loose" (I have an eleven year daughter) and
"I should be glad I still have a job." I was also told that they would not pay for the move to Texas like the original move to Boston, but that I would have to expense it(pay up front)this time.
I am the only black female on this particular team. My new manager was not aware of that before I moved here. Is there anything I can do?

Possible discrimination

If you suspect that you are being treated differently because of your race, there are a number of things you may be able to do. The first is to register a complaint with the company's HR department (if there is one) and to follow whatever procedures may be mandated by your employee handbook (if there is one).

In addition, you can file a complaint with the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD). It is VERY important that you file your complaint within six (6) months of the alleged discriminatory acts or you risk losing the right to pursue an action.

Good luck.
