Can my employer change me from a salary position to an hourly position for Tax reasons? And can they give me less per hour without telling me? I am in Nevada.

My employer informed me that the "clerical" position in our company are being changed from salary to hourly due to a new tax law in Nevada. Is this correct? And can they take money from me by not giving me the same pay rate as when I was salary?
