Can I receive unemployment if i quit my job?

The company I work for has recently undergone a change in the majority of the management team. My boss was recently fired and I feel that i am being targeted due to our friendship. They have placed an unworkable amount of duties on me and the number of duities seems to grow weekly. I have questioned workplace matters that I feel are illegal and discriminatory and have received bogus write ups afterwards. I have no doubt that the amount of work being placed on me is a "set-up" for me to fail. The conditions which i work under are unbearable and i fear have begun to affect my overall health and stability. If i quit due to these work conditions can I receive unemployment. I want to e-mail my supervisor and explain that the workload is too much, but fear that that is exactly what they are waiting for.

The standard is whether you quit for "good cause attributable to your employer." You should be prepared to present evidence at a hearing before an administrative law judge as to why you were forced to quit. It is hard to say whether you will be successful.
